252 viewsSomebody said(probably, my mother-in-law)that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, which I think so right. I must add the way down the throat is the shortest way to get him hooked to a woman and even fall head first for a guy who can cook well. So for those of you who look to try their hands on something new and delicious, here are two recipes that would leave your Valentine dazzled. So lets get started with the recipes, here we go…
Strawberries and Cream Cake
INGREDIENTS
- 2 3/4 cups cake flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 (3 ounce) package strawberry flavored gelatin
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup strawberries, pureed
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/2 cup margarine, softened
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups quartered strawberries
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour in three 9 inch round cake pans. Then beat sugar, gelatin and butter in a large bowl, until they turn fluffy. Now add eggs, one at a time and beat each addition well. Mix flour and baking powder, and beat them alternately with the milk into the sugar mixture. Now pour in 1 teaspoon vanilla and pureed strawberries into the mix. Spread the mixture into the three cake pans.
Place the pans into the oven and bake for 25 minutes until the mix becomes sturdy but soft. Take out the pans and let them cool for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and let them cool completely.
You can make the filling by beating cream, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla together till they are stiff. Fill each layer with 1/3 of the whipped cream and 3/4 cup sliced strawberries.
For frosting beat margarine, cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Then spread it over the sides of the cake. Now you can spread the remaining whipped cream over the cake. For topping add the quartered strawberries.
